Masud Rahman and Asif Samir’s paper “Improved Bug Localization with AI Agents Leveraging Hypothesis and Dynamic Cognition” was awarded the ACM SIGSOFT Distinguished Paper Award at the 34th IEEE/ACM International Conference on Program Comprehension (ICPC 2026).

The award was given to the top 10 per cent of papers presented at the conference, which was held in Rio de Janeiro from April 12-13, 2026. Their paper was in the top three presented at the conference, ranked according to soundness, significance, novelty, verifiability and presentation.

The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and its Special Interest Group on Software Engineering are sponsors of the award.
